Join High Country Home Builders and Boone Green Drinks for a tour of the Enertia House this Thursday the 19th at 4:00 PM.  We will meet at the Cash Points ATM located in the New Market Shopping Center and caravan/carpool to the Enertia House.  The house is located off of Howard's Creek Church Road.  This event is open to the community so bring anyone interested.

Enertia House Inventor Michael Sikes, Builder Johnny Cooke and Solar Energy Installer Kent Hively will be on site to present the House and answer questions.

After the tour join Boone Green Drinks at Boone Saloon to discuss the Enertia house and other green topics.

"In the Enertia® Building System, solid Energy-Engineered(tm) wood walls replace siding, framing, insulation, and paneling. An air flow and access channel, or Envelope, runs around the building, just inside the walls - creating a miniature biosphere. Here solar heated air circulates, pumping and boosting geothermal energy from beneath the house, storing it in the massive wood walls. Thermal inertia causes the house to "float" between the cycles of night and day, and even between the seasons.

Many aspects of the Enertia® House are unusual and innovative - but backed up by science, common-sense, and prototype homes across America. In fact, each aspect listed below increases the energy efficiency of the building. The effect is Synergistic - equal to more than the sum of the parts. The Enertia® House can make more energy than it uses!"

"How much does it cost to leave your TV on all day? What about turning your air conditioning 1 degree cooler? Which uses more power every month — your fridge or your dishwasher? Is your household more or less energy efficient than similar homes in your neighborhood?

Our lack of knowledge about our own energy usage is a huge problem, but also a huge opportunity for us all to save money and fight global warming by reducing our power usage. Studies show that access to your household's personal energy information is likely to save you between 5–15% on your monthly bill, and the potential impact of large numbers of people achieving similar efficiencies is even more exciting. For every six households that save 10% on electricity, for instance, we reduce carbon emissions as much as taking one conventional car off the road."  Read More...
